Peppercorns

Peppercorns are the spices produced from the treated fruit of the black pepper plant (Piper nigrum), a flowering vine in the pepper family (Piperaceae). Different methods of processing the fruits yield black, white, green, and red peppercorns, each with distinct flavors and uses. When the term ‘peppercorns’ is used instead of pepper, it implies the whole spice, not pre-ground powders.
