Korarima

Korarima is the spice produced from the seeds of Aframomum corrorima, a leafy perennial herb in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). Native to Ethiopia and the surrounding East African highlands, it’s also known as “Ethiopian cardamom.” Warm and aromatic like the true cardamom it resembles, its larger, browner seeds are the backbone of Ethiopian and Eritrean cooking. Despite the nickname, its closest famous relative is grains of paradise, the West African spice in the same genus, Aframomum.
