Galangal

Galangal is the spice produced from the rhizomes of two tropical evergreen herbs in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae): Greater Galangal (Alpinia galanga), which is more popular for cooking, and Lesser Galangal (Alpinia officinarum), which is more often used in traditional medicine.
