Syrian Oregano
Syrian oregano, also called za’atar, is the herb derived from the leaves of Origanum syriacum, an aromatic Levantine herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae). With a flavor that sits between oregano, marjoram, and thyme, it perfectly complements sumac, toasted sesame seed, and salt in the famous blend of the same name (za’atar).
