Rue

Rue is the herb derived from the fern-like leaves of Ruta graveolens, a small evergreen shrub in the citrus family (Rutaceae). It is more commonly used in traditional medicine than cooking, although it is sometimes used sparingly as a flavoring in Mediterranean and Ethiopian cuisines. Rue should be used sparingly due to its bitter flavor and toxicity in large quanitites.
