Muña
Muña is the herb derives from the leaves of Minthostachys mollis, an Andean shrub in the mint family (Lamiaceae) that grows from Peru to Bolivia. A handful of related Andean species share the Quechua name, but Minthostachys mollis is the one most people mean. It tastes the way the mountains smell: minty and cooling, with an oregano-like depth and a sharp, medicinal edge. Highlanders steep it in muña tea, long taken for digestion and altitude sickness, but it also goes into soups, stews, and sometimes pachamanca.
