Puxuri

Puxuri is the spice produced from the seeds of Licaria puchury-major, an Amazonian tree in the laurel family (Lauraceae). The dark, oily seeds smell of nutmeg and cardamom with a cool, minty lift. Grated the same way nutmeg is, in the same amounts, puxuri seasons both sweet and savory dishes across the Amazon, from meats to desserts. Its other name says it plainly: Brazilian nutmeg.
